Found: RMBO General Government branch visored cap

A friend of a freind just turned this one up in a house he bought.

The sweatband is completely loose and the visor is only hanging by a few threads, otherwise the condition is very nice.

I'd greatly appreciate any factual observations and, especially, estimates of value.

That's a great specimen! The bullion eagle is fantastic...

This is a fine thing indeed, and much more interesting than many pricier caps that we see on a regular basis.

Cool looking cap -- these general government and diplomatic service guys liked their birds LARGE didn't they?

That is a nice piece, even with the damage. It is hard to pigeonhole a lot of the Eastern Occupied Territories visors. This one has a velvet band and RZM tag, which is seen with Generalgouverenment (GG) visors, but they used yellow wool piping and gold insignia. RMBO did use silver bullion, but no RZM tag or velvet. Who knows, its real, and could use an expert restoration.

Estimates of value are tough, as everyone wants minty, unrestored items, and the Eastern Territories stuff is not in as much demand as it was 10 years ago--everyone now wants combat. It would has damage, and would have to be restored.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. So, perhaps the cap was intended for higher (or highest) RMBO rank (although I understood that gold piping was reserved for higher rank)?

And, as for the 'damage' - actually the cap is not mothed, tracked, holed or broken and the shape is fantastic. I'd think it would not be very difficult to tack the loose components more securely in place.

So, any ballpark values? I really have no clue as this is a bit out of my line.

I would think even in its present condition it should be worth a bit more than that...
