You should get MG34 Butz manual. There was fantastic pictures of all MG tripods.Naturally best manual as it was the official manual.I had one but sold it.

            Dear Sir,

The last one I saw was 400 euros and that was 3 years ago. The paint makes no difference as long as its original. If its stripped its worth less.

However these are rare so its what ever somebody want to pay for it. In the US mega rare so worth even more there.

However their are lots of post war ones for the MG42 be very, very careful you are not buying a fake. Better to buy postwar as postwar and re paint it like I did.

            Regards Craig.

                hello,
on up this page, we see two "dreibein 40"!
the "dreibein 40" model is light MG34 MG42 AA Tripod "
this model in good condition costs between 700-1000 euros.

roughshooter speaks of "dreibien 34" steel which is the version end of War of 34 dreibien aluminum.

indeed, this model reissue the Bundeswehr should be very careful what you buy!

                regards

Thanks for clarifying that I should have been more specific. The steal Dreibein 40 is is not as rare as the Aluminium Dreibein 34, though according to Myvangs book about 10% of Dreibein 34's were made of Steel.

Their are no Aluminium post war mounts but the steel ones can be welded over the Nato stock number on the head, then carefully filed down and re-stamped with a 'CNX' stamp. Just go to E-bay and type in mg42 aircraft mounts to find many, many postwar examples.

                  Regards Craig.

I saw the dreibein again, and its unlike those posted, it is the type with the legs which lengthen just like those shown, however, the whole thing kind of collapses in on itself, much like a small rain umbrella if you follow my meaning, so I dont honestly know if its pre 45 or post 45, I didnt get to look for any markings, just picked up. Its kind of a complicated piece of equipment...

                        Hello Frozzer,

I'm new in town, but I might be able to give you a hand, if you still need help. Do you want to dismount the dreibein completely?

Sorry, haven't got any spares. Don't forget to paint the parts with red rust prevent paint before painting dunkelgelb.

                              I'll not paint it

it has a lot of panzergrau original paint
