EKI Case for Opinions

I bought a 1957 EKI and this case came along with it. The jury appears to be out on what constitutes an actual 57 case, but I hope to get some thoguhts from those more knowledgable than I.

The case appears to be old, but that certainly doesn't equate to authentic. Please give me your best assessment!

It certainly doesn't conform to the construction of a WW11 EK1 case.

I would say certainly post war.

That helps determine what it is not. Can you help me determine what it is? Is it just a copy? A 57 New Form case?

Do you agree that it is old? Say pre-1960? Any more thoughts at all?

I would say early post war rather than later.

The later cases had foam in the tops of the case.

This one looks like it has cotton wool, like a early case.

As stated already certainly not of WW2 vintage.

As to it's age, that's a little more difficult to ascertain! Are you able to black light this example at all?

I have to say I have an inclination this is possibely more contemporary than envisaged.

I'll have a think and look at one or two things.

Hello Marcus,

The case came with a very early 1957 EKI.

At the moment I do not have a means to UV test it, but I will work on it and keep you posted.

I FINALLY UV tested the case and it is UV NEGATIVE. I certainly hope that helps determine what it is.
