    Souval PAB...opinions PLEASE!

    Gents,

I picked up this RS marked PAB recently. I'd love to hear your opinions as I've never owned one like this. Came from a good source but just want to be sure!

    Cheers,

    Adam

Absolutely fine, it even has the typical semi-circle line left and right to the catch. Some originals do not have it, most do have it.
See and find it on the bronze example below.

....and with the other Souval logo. But there is no rule such as:

type 1) small, edgy logo = with semi-circle
type 2) bigger, round letter logo = without semi-circle

Philippe e.g. owns a small edgy logo one without the semi-circle.

              Hi Guys,

I think the circle is probably some kind of developping die flaw Just as we can find them in the same shape on the later tombak Juncker Coastal artillery badges.

It would be interesting to see if the die flaw also appears in combination with the big letters. My guess would be no, because the probably changed the reverse die when they started to use the bigger logo.

                Dear Philippe,

Rather than a die flaw I would think of that line as something that (sometimes) happened in the process of putting the reverse die to the badge´s body.

                  Dear Frank,

Really have to make an appointment with a company that still produces awards to see if they would allow me to follow the production process, because I have some difficulties folowing what your trying to say. Does it have something to do with the fact that you sometimes have the impression that a badge is made out of 2 layers melted together

                    Dear Philippe,

I am just guessing myself. But in my understanding a die flaw is something that happens and looks randomly, a damage that can occur in any shape or form anywhere on the badge.
The lines on the Souval PABs and the Juncker Coastal Artillery´s (to name two) seem to have "system" and are caused by some manufacturing process in my opinion. What exactly this process is and why that line is exactly there, that I do not know.

                    Cheers, Frank
