Seek info on mg optics voltage

Can anyone tell me the power specs for the MG light system that clips on the side of the MG sight? What type of battery goes into the battery box? What would be a good substitute power supply.
    thanks....

    MG Optics

I posted on this awhile back, maybe in the equipment forum. Uses a 4.5 volt battery...I'm at work so can't dig up much more right now...one of these jobs though:

      Optics voltage

      Hi,
Chris Cook is correct, haven't tried it for a while but the normal battery box for the optical devices takes three batteries.
As they are connected in parallel the total voltage is still 4.5V but you have the equivalent of a larger battery for longer life.
If I can take a photo of the set-up I'll post it.
      Have fun,
      Grossfuss

          Hi navalgunner,
This is the set-up, as you can see it works!
The short battery terminals connect to the low terminal on one side of the battery box and the longer terminals to the higher terminal on the opposite side of the battery box.
The batteries pictured are modern copies - I've been searching for a correct WW2-period battery with the eagle and swastika for many a long year!
I hope this answers your question satisfactorily.
          Good luck,
          Grossfuss

                  Hi Chris,
Thanks for the battery links - I bought my batteries from 1944 Militaria as in their advert - they contain 3x 1.5V cells wired together in an appropriately sized plastic outer cover and look very convincing at a distance.
The modern equivalents are easily obtainable in the UK.
It is a wartime original that I seek!
                  Very useful info nonetheless.
                  Thanks,
                  Grossfuss

Hi guys, on Lafette Tripod there's a specific point to put this box?

                        Thanks in advance,
                        Andrea

                          Her x

A very good question indeed, I have never found a requisite clip or area that would take the steel battery box, however the early leather box hangs very nicely from the loop slid over the rear central locking latch. Just right for the common cable length. If they just lay on the floor you need a good long cable on the plug and bulb connector.

                          Any pics anyone?

I did a bit of research on batteries and boxes for optic devices:

                            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=889041

I've got several lamps for optics in a length range of 80 to 130cm. I don't know exactly which went with what optic but 130 cm should be more than enough for an MGZ lighting system.
