Study of ek2 maker mark H

Got this new ek2 today and thought i would post it for the study of section as there is not one there already.
It is marked H on the ring for Paul Hossauer of Berlin.
It has a slight ding on the right arm on the beading but otherwise is okay.
    Any opinions as always appreciated.

    John

            Hi John,
            Is that a "H" or possibly a "4" ? Either way--it's a nice cross

              Hi Greg,
i did think about it being a 4 but just thought that part of the H was missing.

Hopefully someone will post one for comparison.

Thanks by the way i like it as well

I agree a mm H with a bit missing from the mark.

It is a "H" but I heavily doubt it was made by Hossauer. Did he not die in the 1860s... ? Those EK maker list's are in some points just laughable, it seems to me...

Good question. Did the company carry on under his name after his death?

I'm not aware of any Hossauer stuff from post - let's say 1870 as I don't know when in the 60s he stopped. The only thing he is supposed to do was cheap Iron Crosses in WWI, after being Prussia's best order jeweller in the 1850s and 60s and doing nothing for half a century. Strange, isn't it?

I have no idea who might have made that EK. But I'm quite sure it was not Hossauer.
