    Hello

For the moment i'm looking for information about the following unit:

    Stab / Kr. Abt. 562

I think it is Kraftfahr Abteilung 562. If you have information about this unit i will be very grateful.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards

It belonged to the 17 Armee until that army was destroyed in the Crimea in '44.
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Thanks a lot Simon. That's a good start for me.

If someone else can add information (places of battle, symbol of unit, ...), please post it here.

      Best regards

Thanks a lot Simon and P.
With your input i was able to find a lot more on the 562. Kr. Abt. or Nachschub Bataillon 562. Here is what i found:

          Feldpostnumbers:
          Stab 02433 bis 1943
          Ab 1943 02433 A bis 1943
          ab 1943 02433
          1. Kompanie 00584
          2. Kompanie 26522
          3. Kompanie 19984
          4. Kompanie ab 1943 02433 B bis 1943
          ab 1943 56138
          5. Kompanie ab 1943 58703
          6. Kompanie ab 1943 57595

The battalion was formed on the 26th of August 1939 in Wehrkreis VI. The battalion is formed with 3 companies as Nachschub-Bataillon 562 der Heerestruppe in Armeepaket M. They were first deployed in the West and in 1941 in Russia as a part of 17. Armee.

In 1942 they were still part of the 17. Armee. On the 1st of August they were transformed to 6 companies: the 1st and 2nd had German personnel, the 3rd was an Ost companie, the 4th was a Turkish companie and the 5th and 6th consisted of POW.

In the end of 1943 the 562 Nachschub was deployed in Westtaurien.

At the turn of the year 1944 – 1945 was the battalion in action with the 7. Armee in the West. The 7. Armee was in December 1944 till February 1945 part of Heeresgruppe B to defend the middle part of the Westfront. From April 1945 they were part of the Heeresgruppe G. And in Mai 45 it was part of Heeresgruppe Mitte.

The replacements for this unit came from Kraftfahr-Ersatz-Abteilung 6 in Dortmund, Wehrkreis VI.
