    Lightweight Juncker DKiG?

    Has anyone ever heard of Juncker making a lightweight version of the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold? I have one that is unmarked but is a dead ringer in every respect for a Juncker piece - 5 rivets, same style pin, same style swastika, right dimensions. Except for one problem. It weighs in at 47 grams, which is much too light. None of the references I have make any mention of a lightweight version made by Juncker. Has anyone else seen or heard of such a thing?

    P.S., there are other details that make me think this is a fake - poor detail on the wreath above all. The "1941" date has scrap material at the top of the "9" that could only come from a die flaw. But if the weight settles the issue, I don't need to pore over the other details of the cross to determine if it's right or not.

        Sorry - I know the quality stinks, but the good camera was not on hand when I took the pictures.

        Here is the reverse with the pin open, and a closer shot of the jahreszahl on the obverse:





        Strangely, one of the two Juncker pieces pictured in Nimmergut's 4th volume appears to have a similar issue with the "9". But he still gives the weight at over 59 grams, and this one is much lighter. Also, Nimmergut is known to have made a few errors in his pricey books, and this may be one of them.

        So back to my original question - does anyone know if Juncker made a lightweight version?

          Hi,

          unfortunately photos are not clear, from what I can see about "1941" and reverse side is similar of an original one ( its characteristics are of a Juncker's late type ) but really I cannot say more from them. sorry
