Is this Infantry Assault Badge Real or Fake?

    Hello Everyone,

I have tried earlier to post these pics, but I finally got the lettering off them.

I have had this badge for a while now and wanted to know if it is a real one (original WW2) or a cheap repro. The pin was missing even before I bought it, so there is none.

    Thanks for the help!

Wintergarden, I belive the IAB to be a good one. If not, then I've got a fake also. If thats the case, at least I have a hinge and catch to go with it!

I think it looks authentic. These are nicely detailed badges and yours is the first bronze that I've seen. Can you show a larger picture with better close-up details?

        Hi Wintergarten,

Seems you managed to post some bigger pics and these are fine.

I agree with Lorenzo & Chet this is a good badge and one of my personal favorites. The eagle just has the most intelligent look on his face. The metall of wich these are made isn't simple Kriegsmetall but I'm not sure if it's buntmetall neither.

I'll post some pics of mine in silver for you to compare.

              Hi Guy's

Little update on this IAB mostly encountered unmarked. Just found one in Yuri's article on IAB's Marked L/21. So I think it's safe to presume that these were made by Foerster & Barth.

Phillipe, thanks! I thought it might have been in one of the Military Journal articles.

                      No problem Chet,

Learned an other interesting thing by reading that artical again and looking at the pictures. Look at the Fo (L/14) badge Yuri features in that article.

Exact same obverse layout as the L21.

Realy interesting to see how manufacturers shared there dies. Makes you wonder if indeed they produced the dies themselfs or bought the design from other companies or people?

PS Just thought of it that not everybody can see Yuri's pics. So I hope Mrs. Winkler allows me to post a pic of an other L/14 I found on his side only for educatonal purposes of course
