Sorry to say, but this is a well known fake that has been around since the mid 90s.

Besides the fact that the obverse details do not match the originals by Friedrich Orth, the best way to spot this fake is by the absence of the doorway on the main deck superstructure and the absence of the central stem to the ship's anchor. Also, on the reverse of the badge, the attachment pins on these fakes usually bend like butter. Another big flaw is that the badge is made from a modern alloy, instead of zinc.

Yes, this is unfortunately a good quality fake. the other way to pick them, even from bad pics, is the hardware.

These fake Fo destroyer badges were distributed along with fake wide-pinned SHuCO Coastal Artillery Badges and a fake RSS HSF badge.
