Opinion Please Round 3 EK 1st

    Hello,

I would appreciate and welcome all opinions and help to determine if this EK 1st class is a real or fake rounded 3's made EK before I purchase it. If this is a fake it sure looks good to me. If it is real is this a rare bird?

    thanks, John

        IMO it's a fake.
Original round 3 EK I used another pin and hinge system.
I know this fake version since 3 month.

              Heinrich, who is the "Sandkastenmann"??

I ran into a German guy that had 2 of these for sale, guaranteed original of course, at 350 Euro each.
The story he told was almost worth that kind of money, it was very exiting and to good to be true (just like the crosses )

But they pop up everywhere now....

George, do you have any pics from the side?
                    I have never seen a round3 ek1 with a stippled core before.
The frame doesn't match with the unknown maker, or Deschler. nor does the hardware on the reverse.

I have seen more round 3 crosses made from "regular" ek 1 frames, with an ek2 core used to make a nice round 3..

I can't get a good side pic with the digital camera I have now. But there is a close-up lens waiting in the post office for my new, better camera. I'll pick it up tomorrow and try for a good shot.
In the meantime, except for one area of an inside corner where the soldering is kind of spotty, the rest of the seam is neat and tight.

well, you may have picked up a nice original from the third maker then
So far I have only seen them fron the "unknown maker" and Deschler, but an ek1 with a stippled core is completely new to me!

                        That souns promising!
