    Hi,

The "M" Battalions were created during 1941, was are an èlite
of the Militia black shirts assault battalions, and became the
units more loyal to Duce. The Battalion have on the black flames
the two red "M" instead of the simply fasces for the patches of
others blackshirts battalion. During the RSI period the battalion
"M" is reformed with an new organization and command and make
part of the G.N.R. (Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana) Repubblican
National Guard and the red "M" both as patches is considered an
honor badge applied above the left breast pocket of uniform.
The units could adorn themselves with the red "M"
honour badge during RSI period are:
63° Legion "Tagliamento" (before RSI Battalion)
    29° Black shirts
    Battalion Cyclist "Venezia Giulia"
Tank group "Leonessa" (23/11/44 with Mussolini decree)
The "M" badges exist with two different manifacture
the type pre RSI have the attachment with the bolt and nut
and is writtn "fabbricazione e riproduzione vietata per decreto
    ministeriale- Boeri Roma-
The "M" RSI period manufactured is smooth on backside
with two cramps and the intersection of the "M" full
    and black painted.
The two models is used in all the RSI period
Those are the photos of the red "M" of my collection
present give me from an RSI veteran.

Raffaello - Thanks for the informational and educational thread posted.
Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

                          Hello Raffaello:

When they wore the single badge as an honor badge above the left pocket, which one did they wear, the left side or the right side, or it did not matter?

                          Thanks!

                            Hi Jhon,

during the RSI period for the single honor badge don't exist an regula, the real difficult is to
have the complete pair of badges, if you see the Dennis "M" are the same side. I have found
in this week another pair (I am very lucky) and now I have two.
                            cheers, Raffaello
