    Collar tabs close up.

This has been on a shelf here for years, and now rests in an enclosed cabinet with vci inhibitors. The collar tabs are much darker in life than in image as these images are almost 20 years old

In the first or above image, note that the original owner was a Blood Order recipient and one from the early years. There are only less than a handfull of men awarded the Blood Order so possiblities are quite strong on ownership as unfortunately, the tunic is not named.

I'll leave the guess up to you who are reading this of who possibly wore this.

This will be a short lived thread as I believe there are not many of these around, regardless of any rank.

Here is the headgear front and inside center. Sorry, not raising the headband, it is in its last grasp of the visor. It is correctly tagged as expected.

If you have a Gau with embroidered insignia, post it.

Gorgous tunic!! I've got a beautiful set of later version tabs I will post when time permits. They were found in Penn along with the leaders dagger which now belongs to a well known dealer. Alex

Bringing the thread I started in 2007 up to see if anyone has any Gau level tunics to post. The post has sat on the WA forum sinse 2007 & with a few comments that ended within days of posting this. The ensemble is too good looking ensemble to stay hidden for so long!

Anyone know the criteria of Blood Order & Coburg badge wear on this? Not certain if any Gaulieters had both so images may not exsist.

Rich, that is a very eye-catching tunic. Do you know who was the original wearer? I would think the BO ribbon, if original to the piece, should narrow down the possibilities to a very small number of individuals.

                    Hi Rich,

Many thanks for resurrecting your note from long ago and again sharing the pix of your beautiful Gauleiter's tunic and cap! Truly a treasure in anyone's collection, and many of us would love to own the pair! As I'm sure you know, the cap is from the period following the 1939 major reworking of the PL Uniform Code, and the tunic is from the previous period.

I do have one question, based upon your sentence: "Anyone know the criteria of Blood Order & Coburg badge wear on this?" Do you have any reason to believe that the original owner of this tunic was a Coburg Badge holder, or are you raising this question as background to possibly adding a CB to the tunic's display?

Again, simply a gorgeous tunic, apparently in excellent condition, and I join many here who are green with envy! Cheers,

                    Br. James

                        Hi again, Rich,

Following up on your thought: "Not certain if any Gaulieters had both [BO and CB] so images may not exsist," I ran the CB List and Patzwall's list of BO recipients against the list of Gauleiters as acknowledged in the 1934 edition of "Reichstagung in Nürnberg," and here follow the results:

Gauleiters holding the BO and the CB:
                        Franz Schwede-Coburg (second issue BO)
                        Julius Streicher

                        Gauleiters holding the BO:
                        Friedrich Hildebrandt / Hildebrand
                        Wilhelm Friedrich Loeper
                        Adolf Wagner
                        Robert Wagner
                        Karl Wahl

                        Gauleiters holding the CB:
                        Dr. Otto Hellmuth
                        Martin Mutschmann
                        Fritz Sauckel

I hope and trust that this information is helpful.

Schwede Coburg didn't qualify for the 1st pattern CB and he was later awarded the 2nd pattern badge.

Thanks, Erich...I'm aware of that, of course. I believe Schwede was out of town during the event in 1922; he was lucky to have gotten the 2nd pattern badge!

                            Cheers,
