    J1 800 final confirmation

    Hi guys,

you may all remember my thread from not so long ago with my J1 800.
Due to the many doubting voices I decided to take the plunge and send it to Detlev. After a short telephone conversation I must admit to feeling quiet elated.
These are certainly very rare and I am a very happy person.

    Hi Skip

    Congratulations

This will probably be the center peace of your Luftwaffe collection.

    I'm happy for you

        Hello Skip,

Did Detlev explain to you about the why thier is a double 800 markings on the reverse and what pupose it served ? As well as why the 800 mark looks like is was hammered in with so much pressure that it caused the wreath to have a warped effect?

As well as some of the other points brought up in reference to the reverse.

Please don not get me wrong , I am asking for my own knowledge, in case I ever come across such a piece.
I would appriciate the expanded knowledge.

        Best Regards,
        JD

          I told you so...

Congratulations Skip! I thought it was pretty nice when you posted it and definately nicer than any of those newly found early IMME chickens.

            Thanks guys,

this really will be the centre piece in my collection.
It was also in its original case with inscription "Flugzeugführer", without Luftwaffe, which is, according to Detlev, also pretty rare, this case has the gold lettering in an amazing condition.
Joe, I did ask Detlev about the silver stamps, he also does´nt know why they stamped both sides of the wreath, however he has seen a few of these and they are all done in exactly the same way.
The stamping of the wreath did not cause it to warp, this has probably been lightly bent with pressure to allow a better sit on the uniform, nothing unusual about that I think, as I have had a few badges that have been vaulted in this manner.
