    Flak badge - unfinished

    Hi,

what do you think about this badge?
It is not finished piece. Maybe removed from production.
What producer could it be? Should be someone from Gablonz area......

    Thanks for comments.

Only one maker used "that" wreath design, and I gotta tell you what you have looks like a poor attempt to cash in on a "pre-production" piece. Why Gablonz? Would be interesting to know why so we might cross-reference the maker. Would love to know the wreath measurements - just the height and width from what would be left once the badge is made.

I haven't seen veins that bad since I tried to draw blood from a drug addict...what is the material? Lead?

          Hi Mark,

          thanks for reply.
I am sure the badge is original. I personaly found it in Gablonz, where I live. Thatsway I think it should be produced in Gablonz.
          The material is Buntmetal-Tombak.
The badge has not cutted the inside area around the wreath and flak after stamping. I think it was removed from production as a bad piece because there is a visible problem problem by cutting of the outside area of the wreath. I can see that small part of the leaves and flak is missing on the right upper part.

Do you have any idea of the possible producer?

          Thanks Pavel

Where are the leaves missing? Can you point it out? Please provide measurements.
            Thanks!

              Hi,
here is the picture with part that is missing imo.
I think the piece was removed from production because of wrong step in first cutting operation after stamping. When you compare the right and left side of the wreath it is visible.
I will send the measurments when I arrive home.

Great - just the wreath, not the extra metal.

The die-flaws are on the obverse, but the lack of vein detail is troubling. Still, if it was a design problem it could be. But the reverse really makes me shake my head.

This is the badge called the ball-hinge. We do not know the maker, though it could have been JFS, AS in triangle, RK, the HMK in triangle - I think people call it Hauptmanzampt Munchen, MK - any of these and more I am sure of the badges that used the ball-hinge.

The back is very rough, the semi-hollow area looks too deep, the wreath lacks the beveling. It is just very easy to cast something and call it a pre-production piece. If you have provedence and are happy with it fine, but i am skeptical.

Still, why Gablonz? There are only two Gablonz manufacturers I think that use the same reverse - JFS and RK. Of the two RK is the more likely.

                      Hi Mark,

thanks for more info. As I told you the badge is 100% ok, I found it personaly last weekend. It was ground found in the city where I live - Gablonz. Thatsway I think it was produced here by some local producer and thrown away before finishing because of design problem or something else.

Now as you wrote is clear that it should be JFS or RK.

                      Thanks again

                        Pavel,
This is critical information if true. Was the badge found in relation to any factories?

No it was not, thatsway I do not know from which producer it comes.
I have also picture of the badge in original condition, before I cleaned it. But I did not manage to put it here. If you are interested send me your e-mail address, I will send you more pictures.
