    J1 800

    Hi guys,

now I am really going to make you all sick but please forgive me.
I found this badge at a Berlin dealers and have just paid a months wages for it.
I think it is good, the obverse detail all fits with my CEJ J1.
Please tell me that you also think it is good as I have never seen one of these ever before.

          Hi Skip,

          AWESOME Badge!!!!

Never have I seen something like this before. Sure looks like it has bin there.

I'm waiting impatiencely to learn what the Luftexperts are going to say about this one.

You put it online some 3 ours ago and since there is no reaction yet I think everybody is going through their files to see with wich explanation to come forward.

          Hang in there

An interesting badge Skip, the front looks very good but the back has thrown me... the back just doesn't say 'juncker' to me (the catch: like flat wire; rivets: too large; hinge: to fat; marker mark : not very crisp)

I'm open minded about some of these badges... and I love it when pieces like these are brought to the fore front but could you post pics of it beside a tombak J1 so comparisons can be made? Could you post dimensions as well?

Wouldn't silver be a softer metal, than Tombak, explaining the soft details on the reverse?? Only a thought.

                Hello Skip,
Correct me if I am wrong but I have seen this badge on the Stuttgart-show?
If it is the same one I was offered at the show, I can only congratulate you with a beautifull authentic extremely rare silver Juncker Pilot badge.
I think you will sleep good tonight!
                Pieter.

                  Hello Skip,

The piece show charateristics of a J1 on the Obverse of the Eagle, and the wing feathering is correct for a J1. The badge looks heavily worn.

Too make any furthur assessments I think that I would like to see better pics of the maker mark, side shot of the wreath showing thickness.

I don't want to dsound like a bonehead, BUT what is that curly thing near the catch??

Also a flatwire catch on a J1, possible repair. Better pics are is what is really needed. I have nothing in my files for a J1 800 silver.

                  Cordially Yours,
                  JD

The "curly thing" is a devise to prevent the opening of the pin when the badge is attached to the uniform.

                      Thank you Peter,

This is piece is a first for me, and appriciate the help. Now a question, why 800 silver is this the first of the first or a private purchase. What is the background history on this example.

                      Best regards,
                      JD

PS Peter do you still own the formal award document cases of RK holder Generalmajor Dietrich?

@ Skip, just an awsome find, glad to see it go to a member, congrats.

Don't really know what to say here - It's the first of it's kind that I've seen. The front does look J1, but the reverse is definately different from usual Juncker. Skip, is the maker mark the same early style like those on the J1 buntmetall eagle? The wreath seems to be a softer metal judging from the silver content stampings. I lean toward "wow, great piece" but I don't have any backround with this type of badge to offer a heartfelt comment! I, like Richard, love when this type of badge surfaces for discussion. I would like to learn more here myself.

                          Damn!
The front looks so good, I can't imagine it being bad!

Here is a Radio Op / Air Gun that Detlev sold a while back. It's
a Juncker first pattern, maked 800 on the wreath. I don't know
if the eagle is silver too, or tombak.....???
In this case, the rest of the badge does look typical Juncker
even though it has the 800 mark.

                          Skip...you're a dirty S.O.B.

                          //: =(

Tim - your case is amazing, I've never seen an inscription like that on another case.

                              Hi Yuri,

It's not my case, I just borrowed the images from Oliver!
                              Hope Detlev doesn't mind!

                              Merry Friday
