    SS Helmet?

Alright, I received this helmet from a friend of mine a few days back. He gave it to me for free, because we both have doubts about the decal. It is probable that the helmet is just an original black helmet, but we have a bad feeling about the decals.

The bottom of the SS runes go too far down and they are too far to the left. The Swaz on the other decal seems to be too skinny from an other example I was shown as well. This was from a W-SS veteran who said he picked up the helmet sometime after the war. (All info provided by my friend )

Anyway, here the decals are to see for yourself. It's worth a try for me anything even though I'm fairly sure it's bad.

The black helmet looks like an original paint job. There is no liner so the inside of the shell has on the side "ET64" and on the back of the shell has "252"

I don't know what those mean either so if anyone could help me learn a little that would be great.

Good thing you got it for free.

ET is the maker which stands for Eisenhuttenwerk AG, Thale Harz and 64 is the size.
      252 is the production number

Alright that's what we figured. You would need more photos of the helmet to determine if it's an original paint job on an original helmet, correct?

Yes the helmet looks for the most part black. So this seems to be an original helmet with repro decals and postwar paint job?

Wheres the Calgary Flames Pin-up Girl when we need her to provide a good solid "bllluuurrrrrrrppppppppp - splaaatttttt" when a really bad decal surfaces.

Paint will be post war, decals are from Allgemeine SS Mars Standarte.
They used a variant decal that also translates into Martian "Mars-land Erwache"
or "Mars Uber Alles" depending on your Martian dialect.

                  sorry, really bad day today...
