This marvelous Stickpin was acquired by my friend Mike in 1975 from an American Veteran who was part of a party that was instructed to pick up Prinz Phillip von Hessen at his residence.
Prinz Phillip was not there--he had been put into a "camp" by Hitler toward the end of the war.
In a dresser drawer was this Luftwaffe Eagle Stickpin made up of diamonds in a platinum setting with rubies for the swastika.
Speculation is that this Stickpin was given to Prinz Phillip by his brother-in-law, Herman Goering.
He took Goering on a trip through Italy on Goering's second honeymoon, since he was the German Ambassador to Italy at the time.
This is speculation only, since there is no known record of the award of this Stickpin.
Here are shots of the wonderful Stickpin.
