M42 SS ckl Marked M42 Helmet - Opinions Please

I bought this before I shipped out to Iraq and never got a chance to post for reviews. Now that I have returned wanted to get some opinions. Based on the experience I gained on the forum, I believe the ckl M42, size 64, batch number 3244 has a good factory ET 2nd pattern decal.

It is named on the liner. The pins are loose, but appear to match to helmet well. Other than that, I like it.

Thanks for your opinions in advance.

              Jeff,
You could have always sent that home to Colorado for safe keeping!
              Glad you made it back.

Thanks for the review Gentlemen. What is the rank listed under his name on the liner?

It appears to be a poorly applied decal over the scratches in the paint next to the right side rune. The upper left corner appears to have broke down on application.

Depot applied ? Postwar applied ?? The scratches were there when the decal was applied. That's what it looks like from the closeup.

My eyebrows go up when I see that on a M42. My opinion only.

Huh, I noticed that too but I didn't think anything of it at the time. That is kind of disconcerting.

Bingo! My observations exactly. The pre-existing scratches, together with the smudged up upper left corner would give me some concerns about the timing of the application on this CKL M42 shell.

Could you post some better close-up pics of the decal, maybe outdoors in sunlight. The lighting on the one posted isn't very good.
