Some Schwerin hsf from Tirpitz opinions please

    Hi.

A guy that I know has bought 5 hsf badges that has been found by divers.
These are from the boat Tirpitz.
What do you think about these badges?

    Best regards,
    André

                    Andr******233;,

As already mentioned to you, IMO these are originals but with no fire gilding & dark grey finish left on them. They do look spokkily nice to me for some reason.

                    Cheers,

                    Mark

                        Hi André,

Interesting badges. Is the story 100% legitimate? Were they found together? Any chance of some good measurements? I assume all the finishes are strange because of immersion/cleaning? They all appear to be early examples but with flat-based "C" catches - a little bit unusual. They are either genuine or excellent castings - I think the former from what I can see from the pics and without handling them.

                        Regards
                        Mike

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

                          Are the pins magnetic?

It is the story that needs to be looked into. I thought the ship was salvaged long ago and nothing is left of this ship much less badges at the bottom of the fiord.

                              Hi Andre
Do you know if these were recovered in salt water or fresh. They seem to be stripped to there original finish leaving only a brass finish (tombak ). They have all the traits of original Sherwin Badges. I would be intrested to know the answer. As a response I have a an un-answered question about the hinge clearance to pin. Please look at the hinge where the pin attaches on the examples as opposed to the pic submitted. This makes me uneasy no gap. Please get opinions other than mine.
