    Heer Visor - Help needed

    Hey guys,

    Same veteran, other bring back.
The eagle was probably taken by his nephew just after the war; he just might be able to trace it.

My question was; what part of the Heer did this visor belong to?
I know the green linings refer to some part, but don't know which.
And with the eagle; what should it be worth?
(Not that It's in my possesion, and if it ever is, i am not going to sell it).

    Thanks,
    Wouter

It looks to be land customs.

      Land customs?
Is that like the regular customs?
Please explain; that is 1 word of the English language which I have not mastered yet

Well lets just call it customs or boarder guard. . Here is a customs visor on Peters site with the proper wreath and cockade.

Sorry if I am a nuisance, but my knowledge of the German militaria is minimal

Is the one on Peter's site like a different rank?
Due to the cord being another colour.
And a price indication assuming the eagle is found again?

It is hard to tell from the photo but the one you posted looks to have had a colored cord too. It look like it has worn off or faded a lot. Again it is hard to tell for sure.

              Thanks alot NTZ
I will ask him for better pictures tomorrow, of the inside and especially of the cord.

Flash, your cord looks to be a flecked type. This would only have very light green running through it. I would have not been as bold as the one on Peters site.

As noted earlier, the wreath is incorrect for customs, but looks like a common Heer wreath. Either the wreath is a replacement, or the cord is a replacement...or both. Couldn't this just as easily be a common Heer administrative cap rather than Customs?

Paul I thought it might have been an Admin too. I think the capband is a little green for heer though. Then again it could be the photo.

                        Hey guys,

He says there's only a big '57' stamped in the inside, no photo

That would be the cap size but it shouldn't be too big.

He told me that the whole uniform was on the attic of a house in Leer, and that he had removed the bone buttons on the tunic and send them to his mother.

Maybe the bone buttons were specific for something?
