These envelopes each contain one condom. "Nur fuer die deutsche Wehrmacht bestimmt. Nach Gebrauch sofort zu vernichten." is printed on each packet. These were widely available from many dealers in the US and Europe around 1999/2000. The story was that a stockpile of these had been found, left over from the war. Some dealers had just the empty envelopes. I have not seen any of these for sale in a while.
One of the books in the "Soldat" series shows one of these exact packets. In the book, the packet is shown to contain a small paper or card stock insert which contains 2 condoms. This makes sense considering that the size of the packet seems suited for two condoms, not just one.
The paper looks correct for WWII, and the wording on the package is clearly printed by a machine, not by a computer. However, I am suspicious of these and I wonder if anyone else has seen these. My feeling is that the packet itself may original left-over stock, but the condoms inside were probably added when the packets were found to make them more sellable.
I would be very grateful for any opinions or comments about these condom packets. I need to decide if I will use these in my display or not.
