    "Beco" Km. mine sweeper badge

    Hello;I'm new to the website.
I've been a casual collector of German combat badges for about 30 years and since retiring from the military have been concentrating on various manufacturers of badges.
Does anyone have any ideas/information about Kriegsmarine mine sweeper badges marked "Beco" on the reverse?
    Thanks for any help.

      Beco Km.Mine sweeper badge

Unhappily,I don't have a digital camera yet so cannot enclose a picture of the "Beco"marked badge.
But there is one pictured on Kai Winkler's web site(Nordheide Versand)in the Kriegsmarine badges area.

            My imagination:
Beco must be an abbreviation. Normally "co" stands for company.
So maybe one of these makers is Beco :
            Beck, Hassinger & Co., Straßburg
            Otto Berning & Co., Schwelm
Camill Bergmann & Co, Gablonz am N.
            Josef Bergs & Co., Gablonz a. N.

              Beco real company name

While looking around I found this posting by 'jhodgson' where he posted a portion of a Beco awards catalog from 1939 (note Beco name upper left hand corner). I asked if there were any KM medals and if the catalog showed the full company name or address.

jhodgson responded as follows (actual PM printscreen is shown):

"The Minesweeper badge was not issued until August of 1940 and is not in the catalog. There is a Halbmund but just photo and not very useful. The address is Boeger & Co. Adalbertstrasse 42 Berlin SO16."

Therefore, it looks like Beco is actually the company affiliated with L/57, RZM M1/74, and Prasidialkanzlei #22: Boerger & Co.

Thanks to jhodgson for his help.

                Beco

Here are Beco minesweepers with respective maker marks. Also, as jhodgson states, I've seen photos of a halbmund/Gallipoli Star with Beco maker mark.

                  1939 Beco catalog

I will scan and post the entire catalog today in the General awards section. I didn't realize how rare it is but several people have contacted me now about it. That way people can use it as a reference.

                    Beco

                    Hello,
Great Minesweepers Badge. I have always wanted one of those examples by Beco.

                    Regards,
                    Jody
