BCN: thanks goes to Roger for providing information that lead to further info about the fraud, Novak.

The excrescence known as Tomek aka Tomasz aka Pawel Nowak aka all the anglicised versions of the same name has a long history of internet fraud selling fake treasure wreck locations & diver info supposedly from Spanish & British archives, and a Japanese sword with 'XVIII century blade'. There are references dating back as far as 2000 on diving sites detailing his scams and they continue through till present on (mainly) Japanese sword forums. The MO is almost always the same; harvest emails from the target forum, then contact individuals privately usually trying to conduct several sales simultaneously. The bayonets/militaria mentioned in the recent frauds appear to be an adaptation to suit a new target group.

        <table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="100%"> <tbody> <tr> <td valign="top">He has used the following names:
        Tomas Nowak
        Tomasz Nowak
        Tomek Nowak/Novak
        Pawel Nowak/Novak
        Pawel Tomasz Nowak
        etc
        </td> <td valign="top">and following emails:
        archival_research@yahoo.com
        Golden_Treasure_4@hotmail.com
        golden_treasure_5@yahoo.com
        Golden_Treasure_9@yahoo.com
        goldenwrecks@hotmail.com
        Pawel_Tomasz_Nowak@yahoo.com
        sea_quest_service@yahoo.com
        shipwrecks_diving@hotmail.com
        Silverwrecks@hotmail.com
        Tomasnowak@hotmail.com
        Treasurewrecks@hotmail.com
        xers@hotmail.com
        etc
        </td> </tr> </tbody> </table>
Further information can be found on him here:
        http://www.google.com/search?q=Pawel...n&lr=&safe=off
        http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...re&btnG=Search

Food for thought, someone baited him here:
        http://www.jref.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7412

A hacked version of his website is found here:
        http://www.angelfire.com/ut/TIPET/powelindex.htm

So how did this tumour get our emails? I don't know.
I for one would recommend members broadcast information about this fraud in other internet groups & forums they belong to prevent further trouble & close Novak out. Especially if they relate to edged weapons. If he turns up on a forum or list that you belong to, I would seek immediate banning.
        Any other ideas?

back again like the proverbial 'bad penny'. He may be persistent, but he certainly lacks imagination. It is always the same batch of items that he is 'selling.'

I am sure if you type his name in the search function you will find numerous other threads on this character from his past exploits.

I also recieved the same e-mail from this clown a couple weeks ago. Since I had read about him on this and other forums I simply deleted it. I'm still curious how he gotmy e-mail to begin with,
                  Cheers,

                    Good morning Gentlemen,
I have just yesterday received the same e-mail offers from Pawel Nowak. Before completing a transaction which seem too good to be true, I did a search on the Forum, and this all too interesting thread appeared.
I will NOT be dealing with this fellow thanks to the FORUM!
                    Thank you all,
                    Curtiss

This may not be the right place for this, but it does involve some headgear too.
I was contacted by email by a Pawmel Tomak, from Poland. Stating that he does not collect, but has items for sale. Helmets, Swords, Daggers etc. Even sent me so called crudentials sent to him by the Ministry of Defence of England.
Basically wanting money sent to him for these items by Western Union. Had a friend run a check on him and it is fraud. Most of you would be hesitant in sending him money..I hope..but others may fall for this...Beware!
                      Regards,
                      Gary
