    HJ knife

    Hello,
I have a question about a HJ knife. I have bought one with the RZM code: MZ/49 1939. It has a motto on the blade. Should I be concerned?
    Regards,

It could be M7/49 and that is Friedrich Herder A.S., Solingen
. Are you sure it is MZ/49?

                Hello,
                I'm sure about the MZ/49.
I bought the HJ knife from a very respected dealer in Belgium.
However if you look at this site: http://thirdreichmilitariaholland.nl...rie=22&type=90 item number 252, It comments that MZ/49 is a fake!

Like Jason said, the M7 would define it as an edged weapons manufacturer. I've never heard of MZ as a defined RZM code.

                      Thanks all for the info.
The HJ knife goes back to the dealer.
                      Regards and again, many thanks.

Larry - Look at the site, it is odd. Would like to see whole knife, not sure if that is an error in manufacture or a fake, not enough there to tell.

TVD - You were on the mark with the "MZ" you referenced!

For those who can't read Dutch, the site I mentioned, means:
"copy,copy... this HJ knife is made by a smart producent: The 7 in the RZM code looks like a 7, but it is a "Z". The diamond is flat red, without points/dots.
Also copy: HJ knife with RZM code MZ/49 1939. This one has a original diamond, but still it is a fake"

The collecting community generally accepts that 1938 is the last year that mottos were applied to the blade.
