    KVK1, opinions needed!

    Hi!

I would like to know what do you think about this one, how does it look, is it ok or not?? Maker mark is under the clasp and it is number 3 in a square. Who is this maker??

    Thanks
    Hacht

      #3
      Maker

#3 Wilhelm Deumer. However, always keep in mind that lists were changed between early and late war years. This one, for what it seems in the pics, its a zinc (late war) type. You might find useful the following link since the numbers apply no matter that the list provided here is under the EK1 descriptions.

Medal's front looks good, but if it was me considering to buy the piece....I would pass on it because i would have concerns in regards the pin, hedge, and catch. Maybe some of the real knowledgeable guys here could give you a different perspective.

        Looks good, but late war

It looks good. I have a #3, in its box, that is has the same set up. The cross is zinc and the silver wash has faded over the years. The pin and catch are made of different metal, so look different.

The only thing I'd add is that earlier-made tomback KVK's that don't have fading problems and look much better, are not too difficult to find. Unless you get a really good price, I'd pass this up for an earlier one.

        Best of luck.

I don't see anything wrong with the pin and clasp. It's a typical setup for a Deumer medal.
