Hi all,
i just got this M 40 in. I got it from a very save source and for an amount which you wouldnt get a M 40 no decal for. (180€)!
It is my opinion that all is period on this helmet, especially the decals. But since i didnt ever handeled another NSKK helmet i would be intrested what do you think ? The helmet started live as a common grey/green no decal M 40, it was spray painted green in the field and the decals were added. For some reason somebody removed the red part of the tricolor very carefully. There are no differences in the color visible, so it looks like it was done many many years ago if not immediately after the war. You can still see a few remains of the red part.
The eagle is missing the swastika and the "NSSK" over the head. You can still see were it was.
The liner is the early aluminium type, but was never out of the helmet after the war.
So thats it for now, what do you all think of it ?
Thanks Jens
