Turkish War Medal 1915: Types Catalog PART TWO

This NEW thread is to CONTINUE our survey of the many variants of this basic Ottoman award. See "Turkish War Medal 1915: Types Catalog PART ONE" for many other types by different makers. I closed that one off because we have so many scans it was taking forever to download it!

I'm posting these for our newest Moderator-Daddy, Jody Beltram:

Another one I got. Front with old enamel repair and back with repaired pinback. Must be a BB&Co (Binder Brüder, Lüdenscheid) made star.

Ohoho... niiiiiiiice! Three out of 4 types I have never seen!

                    1) What is the silver hallmark on the pin of the first one, lower right in the group shots?

                    2) IS that a blurry little Arabic smudge mark on the "barrel" that holds the soldered end of the pin on the one at lower left? I have a fairly decent one shown in Thread One that DOES have a little Arabic squiggle blob there, and I can't tell if I am imagining things or yours (a different-- man, how different!-- Tughra etc design)

                    3) Upper left with unique-enamelled in Tughra-- note that the initial "1" is missing off the Arabic year date-- so that was made by SOME Non-Ottoman maker!

Glad to see you've finally got a scanner!

                      Dear Rick

The lower left and middle Turkish star are both marked silber, I haven't never see any Turkish star with Arabic marking on them. I just got this star from a British dealer and appanerntly he has more than one star with very similar enamel and same marking on it. I will try to ask her for some scans and post them in here.

I didn't realized the star on upper left is missing initial "1". Thanks for pointing out Rick.

                      best regards

PS I have other Turkish breast star with the proper Arabic marking on it.

Humble and yes, yes, yes maybe a bit ugly, but yet again different!

                            Cheers, Frank H.

reverse. Almost a bit Third Reichy from the back.
                              Cheers, Frank
