    www.Das-Ritterkreuz.de is no longer online!!!!

Beginning from today this website is no longer continued.

I dont know if our over-political-correct guys in Germany forced this or whatever.

I think we have to say Andreas Düfel thanks for this nice and interesting source.

    Best regards

    Daniel

This is indeed very sad news.
A very big thanks to Andreas Düfel for all his work.

It would be very interesting to know why this site was closed so suddenly.

        Oh dear !

the most interesting side about the KC is no longer online ! Perhaps he got problems with the german justice as it is dangerous to have a webside with a topic ww2 in germany!

This will be a great loss to the collecting community, dasritterkreuz was always a first point for information on RK recipients.

A site that deserved a Ritterkreuz (maybe higher). A pity.

              Very sad news

              Hi,

Very sad news indeed. It was always my first stop when I was looking for fast and objective information about any RK recipient.

I just ask why such great job and effort was shot down. It is still possible to contact the webmaster? Would he accept to put all the data he has in another site?

I´m asking because Jason Pipes (from www.feldgrau.com) is developing a similar data base and they could share the whole information, so it wouldn´t be lost forever.

What do you think about it?

              Douglas.

This is really sad news When writing to RKT's or I'm looking for information I always stop there first.

Douglas I think thats a good idea, trying to find someone who is willing to put the info on their site, I'm sure there will be many who will be interested such as feldgrau.com & skalman.nu/third-reich.

                Regards
                Phil

We could put the information right here, as well, and I believe Stijn has contacted the owner. We shall see.

                    Hi Sebastian and Phil,

It was a mistake do not even supose that this great Website could not host the Ritterkreuz. Sorry for that Sebastian!

I think that it is very important for everybody to preserve such source and beautiful job. And this would be one of the best places to keep it safe from stupid guys.

I´m looking forward to see the results of Sebastian and Stijn´s efforts to run the Das Ritterkreuz again.

                    Regards, and best wishes.

                    Douglas.

Any news on this yet? It is a tragedy such a good site is not in operation. Like Phil_C said, it was an invaluable resource when writing to RKTs. Please keep us informed of your efforts.

On a side note, I believe this is my first post in about 18 months. So many changes have taken place since I left to take care of some family issues. Good to see all the new forums and all the new people. Looking forward to some spectacular conversations.

                        Any news?

                        Hi Seba and everybody,

I don´t want to bother you all, but I´m willing to know if there is any news about this subject. Do you managed to contact the das-ritterkreuz webmaster?

                        Regards and thanks once again.

                        Douglas.

                          Hi all,

I contacted the webmaster of Das-Ritterkreuz.de shortly after the site had been removed. I received a non-personalized message (due to dozens of anxious inquiries no doubt). The webmaster expressed his apologies for having taken this step, and appended a short explanation.

Apparently he was forced to remove the site because of legal trouble. Not imposed by our ever-vigilant German authorities this time, but by a poster from the Das-Ritterkreuz.de forum. That user, who is somehow related to a publishing house, demanded that certain pictures were to be removed as the publisher would own exclusive rights to them. The webmaster then received a cease and desist order from the publisher, as well as an outrageous bill.

Since the webpage had never generated enough revenue to cover its costs, and since this legal action had aggravated the situation (with the looming threat of further claims for indemnification) he was forced to remove the site.

AFAIK all the data has been kept, however I cannot tell if or when the webmaster will agree to make the information available. From the message he seemed to be quite devastated by the events.

If you guys are seeking info about W-SS KC holders, you can always head to my site and make a full download of my application.

Instead of being online, it would be portable.

                            Cheers.

                              Hi Waffen,

Thanks for the info. It is always good to know that.

However, does anyone know if there is a site about the Ritterkreuzträger of the Luftwaffe, with the same information that the beloved das-ritterkreuz had?

                              Regards,

                              Douglas.
