I am a bit slow getting this done, but the following are four of mine. All are on tunics. This first one is a beautiful early type that's on a flight NCO's 4-pocket.

              Thanks Dave!

Handsome eagles! I really like the first one on the NCO tunic. IMO these are scarce and hard to find. You should show the entire tunics and blouses on another thread.

Gene, IMO your fieldgrey and camo backed breast eagles are not authentic. I have hesitiated stating this because of past reactions of others when their pieces are questioned, but think it best that we discuss these. And, I may be wrong, I have been many times before.

              Best,

                John,

Glad you liked the eagles. That first one is my favorite too. The tunic it is on came with the guy's original badges. If I get all my honey-do's done I'll get a picture posted for you.

                  Thanks Dave,

Look forward to seeing it! Is it named and unit marked?

                  Regards,

                      Opinion on Eagle

Can some of our eagle experts tell me what they think of this eagle, please.

                        Jack,

That eagle looks fine, though the back is the key. If there is no sign of another eagle having been stitched there (can tell from the back of the tunic), it should be ok.

Gene, I too did not want to say anything about those 3 eagles. I asked to see pictures of the back as I had some serious doubts based on what I saw on the front. The photos of the backs convinced me that I did not like them. Compare the back stitching to other luft eagles...they lack that 2-color thread pattern. I can get those green wool eagles at $10 a pop.....sorry. And the camo eagle is without a doubt a problem. Luft camo eagles were NEVER sewn on any backing other than Grünmeliert (in either the 2 or 3 thread variation). Never seen on a smock either.....

                        Regards,

                        Willi

                          Hi jack,

It looks 100% correct to me. Do you have a problem with it?

I have one I'll post later tonight that I'd like all interested to judge...

John, I like the eagle, personally. I wanted to test waters with it before maybe bidding on the item that it is found on. It's on a ground combat jacket in tan and water.

                              Jack,

I have only one reply to that bit of info.. Rare, rare, rare, so bid, bid, bid! And good luck!

Here is the eagle I spoke of earlier. Guys, let me hear you thoughts..

                              thanks,

                                John,

That eagle look sok......how does the back look? Any evidence of an earlier stitch line? I should post some pictures of the newest batch of repro Luft trop eagles being made. They cost $10 each and we use them on our Luft trop uniforms for FJ re-enacting. I am sure Jack is familiar with them too.........from At The Front in Ky.

A blue-gray wool backed eagle on a tan and water ground division smock would be a first for me. Have only seen the light olive cotton twill eagles on them......have owned a few of those smocks and photographed a few more. John, have you seen others?
