I have been meaning to do this for a bit, but please tell me if I am posting this in the wrong thread. But if it helps even just 1 beginning photo collector to spot a Fake, I will be happy.

This is the unfortunately infamous RUSSIAN ARCHIVE PHOTO. aka Scribble back fake. Some have the purple Russian stamp, some do not. One thing to spot them is that they all have a "wax" feeling to them on the front and reverse. They also have a dark yellowish look to them trying to show age wear. I will post front and reverse. Be careful because these WILL be sold stated as originals! Ive seen them in a few places, not just Ebay too.

Ok, This is one that fooled me when I started collecting photos. It is the ADOLF MULLER LEIPZIG FAKE. The stamp itself looks very convincing as many photo producers/firms/private makers use stamps like this on original wartime photos. Now, I will not even bother showing the front because I have seen this mark on many different Sized, shaped, cut, and different bordered photos. That is what makes these so dangerous. Alot of them are Tank photos i have noticed. Some can get expensive... and lets face it, no matter how much it costs...it sux to be burned! Hope this could help anyone. Thanks

        Hello

New member here and I have 4 original photos of Adolf Hitler I would like to get an oppinion on. My girlfriend was going through her fathers WWII photo album and found them. He served with the 88th Infantry Div in Northern Italy until the end of the war and was incharge of POW camp after that.

I would post scans of them but I don't seem to have that ability. If anyone can tell me how I can post them I would be happy to.

          Uploading pictures

          Hi,
The easiest way is to open a (free) account at Photobucket.com, create a folder and upload pictures in that folder. Once you've done that, you can post pictues from that folder by clicking on the "insert image" icon (see above, the yellow icon with mountain and sun, fourth from the right). You hav to enter the URL which corresponds with the one of the picture(s) in your pohotbucket folder you want to upload. Just pay attention to size restrictions for pictures. Sometimes Photobucket rejects pictures which show nazi-symbols or personalities, and Woolfy surely was one
But I would say: just give it a try and see what happens. Best of luck and I am looking forward to seeing these pictures. Cheers, DF

Ok, let me see if I can make this work. I have a Flickr account so I'll try it with it first.

Will some let me know if you can see the photos? I have a MacBook and it's not letting me see anything accept a some boxes with a question mark in it.

I figured it out and sorry for the previous post. The photos are approximately 2.5x3.5 inches.

                Hello Tommy,

These photos In my opinion are good wartime photos. Most photos I personally have encountered with this type of edge "cut" and size are either on Mimosa paper or paper that does not have any marking on the reverse at all. Im sure alot of other paper companies used this style of paper too, but Im simply giving my opinion from similar styled photos in my collection. Also, This size photo is often used on many wartime photos. Thanks for sharing these with us.

looks like Himmler in the 3rd photo too......sounds like it is a nice album altogether

If they are blank, then no need to do the scans... But I don't like cuttings... I saw such cuttings before, but can't remember where...

recent acquistion - Sepp Dietrich signature

Here's one of the favorites in my collection of autographs. Got this from the collection of a Flemish Legion veteran. On the lower left hand side on the reverse is written "Hitler toeschouwer" which means "Hitler spectator". The atmosphere of the press photo is really captivating and one can see these famous people looking relaxed, even a bit bored almost. The Dietrich autograph makes this of course extra special (and very valuable!) Comments welcome! Cheers, Der Freiwillige
