Very nice EKII's made by S&L from its remaining stocks of wartime frames and rings!

Yes, it looks like a silver wash - is the medal magnetic or zinc ?

            Hello

Trevor, a super, very early S&L new form EK2 - a great find

Nigel, as above for your S&L EK2, and great medal bar as well

            Regards
            David

Thanks, David. I'm very excited about getting this one, especially with all the positive comments. The condition looks just ridiculously good... which is funny, as I usually try to find worn examples of EKs. I like 'em "used, but not abused."

One question: were Deumer and S&L the only two officially licensed jewelers making 57er EK1 and EK2s? Or are there more to be found?

              ~Trevor
              Best regards,
              Streptile

                  Thanks Nigel.

Are these makers ever to be found ring-marked? Or EK1s reverse-marked like Deumers?
                  Best regards,
                  Streptile

i've only seen "3" & "4" MM's on 57EK2's, perhaps some of the other guys have seen others, Assmann marked their EK1's on the reverse with their stylised "A" -Nigel

Hi guys, I'm just wondering .... has anyone checked the 1957 frame against the wartime frame ?
IF these S&L frames are identical, can we then assume that several wartime S&L EK2's could actually be made postwar ????
Same question of course then for Deumer crosses ( both EK1 & EK2 ). We have crosses marked "3" and "L/11" ...

hi Mathys, the earliest 57 EK's certainly used leftover wartime parts (frames/ pins hinges etc.) coupled to the new form core! but as for using the "swastika" core after 1945.......lets hope not!!!! -Nigel

That´s why i would never put a S&L or a Deumer wartime EK into my

Wow, that's a very restrictive standard.

I wouldn't doubt S&L or Deumer made swastika '39s after the war, but the main point for me is: if they did, there's no way (that I know of) to distinguish wartime production from immediate postwar production. Since prices are pretty reasonable (under $100 usually) for one of these crosses, why not buy one and hope it's a wartime manufactured example?

I'm still looking for a swastika '39 "L/11" marked EK2 if anyone has one to sell .
