        Thanks Gaston,
Like I said I never thought there would be a sport patch for this group.

I had a set of blue Stahlhelmbund officer tabs I sold last year at the SOS I wish I still had. I just saw a single blue officer tab for sale if you are interested I will try to find it again and send you a link.

            Could it be

NSF – Nationalsozialistische Frauenschaft, or National Socialist Women's League

That is what I am thinking Rob.

Hi all. Is everyone here of the opinion that the blue police badge in post #26 is genuine to the period? Reason I ask is because it has been deemed a fake over at WRF.

Yes Tom I am 100% convinced it is not a period item.

It is correct design, but some have been made post war IMO. The originals are a much heavier weight that I have encountered.

                      Tom,
This eagle is the Prussian police eagle also considered 1st version police eagle pattern that was used from 1934 to 1936. It is believed that the blue eagle is for water police but no documentation has come to prove that yet, as far as I am aware. The 2 large patches are with out a shadow of a doubt original and hard to find. The small one is not and there is no evidence or example that any one can point at to be original. These small ones just like the small green that you will see in my next post and according to long time dealers and collectors that I have discussed this with say they popped up in the late 70's along with a basket of others that are currently known to be fakes. If the small was real then it would have been made out of a lighter material just as the larger ones.
When I 1st started this thread I did not know this and you will see an armband with this patch on that I posted after post #26 I am confident that is also a fake.

There is nothing correct about it other then the eagle design, all the material is incorrect, all the ones I come by I UV test and all glow, they all fail the burn test and under a digital microscope you can see the material matches all other bevo fakes I have examined.
Look at the design on the back with the 2 cross stitches and ask yourself if you have ever seen that on any other patch because I have not.

Based off of my findings from my collection and my discussions there is no doubt in my mind that it is fake, and if some one has one that says it is original I would like to be the 1st to know about it so I can buy it and so I can correct myself.
The only reason I have one in my collection is because it was given to me.

The smallest one is a fake and it is the only fake I have ever paid for. I believed it to be original even though there was a glow to it because there are slight stains on it so I assumed it was washed with modern detergent and I also did a burn test that I felt passed. It wasn't till I started noticing more of these and they all glowed. I confirmed it to be a fake after I tested a theory I had about the base material witch I feel I proved after I started using a digital microscope to examine my collection.

The middle eagle is the real small version and I have encountered only 2 examples of it.

Sorry for the picture quality but you can find better scans of them in this thread.

This is the base material used on the large real blue eagle and the small fake blue eagle.

Top pic is the real version.

Notice how tight the weave is on the replica. I have yet to find a known original bevo to have such a tight weave or a known replica with a loose weave.
Keep in mind I only tested a dozen replicas against about 100 originals.

Thanks Gunny for clearing that up for me. Cloth badges are a bigger minefield than I originally anticipated. Think I'll stick to my enamel badges.
