    Tan vehicle long spade

I got this one a couple of days ago and I have just had a while to revise and clean a bit. Now, it is 110 cm aprox (it is a bit worn) but correct for my panzer collection and well stamped and dated H 1944.

Curiously, seems it was painted tan but only found a couple of areas with a bit of paint left. Should i clean the rust off and oil it...or repaint...or leave as is?

That's the same 'man and spade' logo that's on my 1959 West German entrenching tool that I use to go rust hunting.

I also have a shovel I believe is Reichwehr era produced by same maker. This maker, http://www.idealspaten.de/ , made pre, during and post-war, seems. They still exist.

          See this other link:

You're welcome. It was thanks to the forum that I learnt the maker.

Does any member know if the spade would have been factory painted tan?...or it should be considered camo?

I think it has faired well in the past 71 years I would leave it as is.

I have removed a bit of "non original" rust, without damaging the patina, and oiled a bit to prevent it rusting again...I have found some areas with a bit more paint. It will look great on my Pzkpfw IV (if i ever manage to get one )
