Great photos David C!!!! In working on my Rudel display I have been scowering the net in various languages, funny you find things in other languages that do not show up in English searches.
While searching in Russian I found this link and this portrait of Rudel, a variation of the standard of which I have never seen before.
This one in particular catches my eye. Though most of the history you read about Rudel they state he was presented with his combined Pilot/Observer badge with diamonds and the golden clasp with "2000" pendant and diamonds by Goring on the same day. Yet in his book "Stuka Pilot" Rudel indicates they were presented on two consecutive days one after the other.
If I see what I think I see in this photo he is indeed wearing the combined Pilot/Observer badge with diamonds and NO Golden claps with "2000" pendant and diamonds.
That would indicate he was correct and the day after this photo was taken he would receive his golden clasp with "2000" pendant and diamonds. That would make this a very rare photo indeed!
