The SS wool wrapper set is a fake and most likely from Latvia based on the poor coarse wool.

I agree that the leather wrapper set is 100% original and used by KM, but also often described in some literature
as NSKK motorcycle protective gear (and carried over by KM crews ...as well as panzer men late war!).

The leather wrapper set does have added LW Herman Goering Pz insignia...nothing to do with SS. The tresse on the shoulderstraps are LW pattern with white HG farbe.
Note sure if all the LW Pz insignia is real...unpiped unbacked tabs are for sure bad...(skulls and straps?)
but it's definately a neat pre 1945 leather jacket + pants set !
So definately not all "absolute junk" as some stated!

Wool wrap looks to be the typical coarse wool of a Latvian fake. And that stitching - what color is that? - pretty crude stitches as well. And the Latvian fakers invariably think that mismatched buttons adds to the authenticity of their work.

The leather wrapper looks like an NSKK issue to me. The Kriegsmarine leather stuff always has a large eagle and "M" embossed somewhere on it. They marked their stuff really well. Even the stampings in the lining look like what you see on an NSKK leather touring jacket.

          Hi guys,

Thanks! So we can agree that the leather jacket is original, whether or not it is NSKK/Kriegsmarine or even late used panzer is still debatable since they were used by different groups- now about the shoulder boards, are they good? I take it you guys are not convinced by the skulls either or is there a chance they are good?

Eagle and boards on the wool wrap are bad - and I don't even "do" SS. Love the leather wrap - always reminds me of Donald Sutherland in Kelly's Heroes...

                Judgement day

Got this in the mail today, really felt like a kid at Christmas again!

First off, the pants are absolutely huge, with large suspenders. The jacket is also quite big and fits me (5'10-5'11) down to the waist which was really surprising. I took photos of the interior of the pants, the crotch of the pants (has all these weird vent holes in it) and the jacket for a size comparison- excuse the hideous pink table protector but it makes the jacket stand out.

Taking pictures of the collar tabs and shoulder boards I noticed that the buttons were marked on the reverse "T A&S" with the "T" at the top, please see photos. Is this a specific button/uniform company?

The collar tabs seemed to be well stitched on front and reverse, and I took pictures of both of them. Please let me know what you guys think of the skulls, I gently angled the tab to get a shot of the red thing behind the skull making the eyes shine out. I can take better pictures of the skulls if needed.

Many thanks guys, would love your imput and thanks for all the help already

                  Hi
Is that a dark green leather wrap ?
then is it a early german " BGS " Bundesgrenzschutz
                  Wrapper.

                  Cheers Andi

                    Hi Andi,

Nope, it is black as night, we established that it is WW2 period and probably NSKK or Kriegsmarine, though I would love it to be a panzer wrapper the insignia still needs checking out-

I forgot to mention most of the buttons have "real coralcorn Δ" (triangle on reverse bottom of button) on them and the rest are black.

After much suffering I finally got a decent picture of the skull, please let me know what you guys think!

                      Hi

None of the above is waffen SS used originals and are not even close.

                        Hi jotuntroll,

I know the uniform isn't waffen SS, I was wondering if the collar tabs and shoulder boards had a chance of being original

The uniform is obviously real WW2. The unpiped tabs with pink eyed skulls is a post war embellishment which means the HG straps were probably also added...but these 2 piece suits were worn by pz crews (well documented) with their insignia, as well as the single piece (ex-KM) leather coveralls (sometimes also adorned with pz collar insignia) as these offered excellent fire protection.
                          See here:
                          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=leather+suit

I would remove the HG straps (looks promising to me) and re-post those in the Luftwaffe section. I do not believe HG panzer did the pink eyes,
a WH pz tradition but who knows... I might be wrong... but I highlt question those unpiped/unbacked tabs...
My verdict; good suit, bad tabs+skulls, possibly good LW HG pz straps!
