    Unknown U-boat badge

This one came in as part of a collection and has me stumped. It looks a bit like a Juncker but the design is slightly different particularly around the talons. The quality is immense, brass with the highlights polished although the gilding has gone.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks ion advance

          Hi Patrick,

Very nice! This is one of the earliest Juncker U-Boats in the timeline -- I call it a 1.1.2. The early Tombak Juncker was characterized by hand finishing to the outlines around the eagle`s head and sub resulting in variability between examples and this cutout swastika version is rare. And it shows that typical early Juncker-type short tube hinge which is just a barrel soldered directly to the badge.

          Best regards,
          ---Norm

I agree with Norm, nice tombak Juncker u-boat 1.1.2 according to the timeline.
I enclose my two tombak Junckers.
            First is 1.2.1
            Cheers,
            Hubert

As mentioned by Norm and Hubert, this is a good early Juncker.

This example shows some very nice hand finishing around the deck gun.

                    Great looking badge.

                    Regards,Martin.

Very ineteresting piece, not only the swastika but the gun had been cut out. No finish left but the details are perfect.
