Any pic of Peiper in Ardennes?

    Gents
Are there any "confirmed" pics of Peiper in Ardennes?
    Thanks in advance!

    No Confirmed Photos of Peiper

Sorry, To the best of my knowledge there are no confirmed pictures of Peiper in the Ardennes. But, Peiper is usually pictured as wearing U-Boat leathers , but that is not the case. He was wearing an 'Italian Flying Suit" , which an American POW discribed as gray coveralls. I would guess that it was the same sort of thing that he wore at Karkov. So look through you photos and news reels again.

      Thanks for the info.
I read it on other figure modeling forums that Peiper wore
a white turtle-neck sweater and leather jacket described by
an US officer who had been captured and escaped. I think
flight suit idea is very interesting since I've seen a few pics
of late war German SS and Heer officers in Luftwaffe flight suits.
      Thanks again for the info.

        Peiper

Hello again Taesung, I have been away on vacation and I needed to look up my refrences, so you go.
1.From Joachim Peiper, A Biography of Himmler's SS Commanderby Jens Westemeier. Published by Schiffer in 2007. In Chapter 16, page 170, Westemeier quotes Peiper's testimony from Otto Skorzeny's Trial on 8/25/1947;" I wore a flying combination suit from the Italian Air Corps on top of my German armored uniform"
        2. I do not have the exact quote but, Captain Chrisenger of the UA 803rd Tank Dist.Btn. was captured and questioned by Peiper at the same time as Major Hal McCowan. Chrisenger said that Peiper was wearing a gray boilersuit.

Poecheske (sp?) was wearing a set of U-Boat leathers in the Ardennes and Peiper wore a leather jacket in Hungary, but I would look for a gray one piece wool flying suit in pictures from the Ardennes if I was trying to find Peiper.

              Peiper

My guess would be the same gray one piece suit that he wore at Karkov. See the picture of Peiper and Witt in Red Squqre.

Thats a reversible (white to grey) SS-winter tankers combination with added fur-collar. Those combis were quite favourite during the 2nd battle of Charkow, you can see many other high ranking SS-offiziers wearing those, e.g. "Panzer-Meyer" and Max Wünsche.

The figure, sculpted by Yo****aka Hirano many years ago, shows Peiper in Kharkov.
He wore reversible one piece combat suit along with a cap, both modified with fur bits.

I'm making a Peiper figure staged in the BoB.
I don't think too many modelers are aware of the statement made by Peiper (below)
at the trial in 1947 regarding what he wore during the Ardennes offense.
Should I just go with the popular belief: leather jacket, scarf, ect?
Or stay true to the game and dig deeper into WW2 Italian flight suit?

Its always best to stay true to reality rather then go with the flow.

Good luck with your modeling, be sure to post the completed pice, Id love to see it

                      Kindest regards,

As I promised, here's a pic of Peiper figure.

It's sculpted by me and painted by my friend, Calvin Tan.
