Judge a medal on the medal!!!

    This is for Don Doering:
You said I was too harsh? Why? Take a look at all the edits done by mott5ranch. If it were was just a case of forgetfulness then why go back and edit all of your posts and remove all the pictures of the medal?

Kenneth, if you can't keep it civil then I'll put you in time out. Do you remember everything you did thirty years ago? Do you readily admit that you screwed up a $1000 item? Perhaps he removed his pics because you are taking it personal.

      Hi

      Hi Don,

Is this guy a personal friend of yours? Is this why you know he bought this 30 years ago and he never said that? Look that's fine that he's your friend but it's not alright for you to threaten me because I caught him in a lie. I am only pointing out what he said it's not personal. One other thing you asked me if I could remember something I bought 30 years ago. No probably not but don't forget he posted this 3 years ago not 30.

        Hi

Oh and when I ask the question "why go back and remove the old posts and pictures" that was a rhetorical question! I know why, because there was a direct contradiction in how the medal was obtained in each thread.

Ken, I've never met met him or really talked with him. Again, keep it civil or sit in the corner for a month.

            Hi

            Hi byterock,

Yes I noticed this also and they also have lines coming to the point where the dot is.

Actually there are 4 'lines' are on all the good ones that I have seen.

Though these are not really lines it is just where the pebbling on the arms of the cross meets so in photos they look like line. In actual fact they are raised ridges that drop from the cross edge down into the pebbling making for a very fine looking medal.

With this sort of attention to detail in the design I do not think a raised dot in the centre would pass the mustard.

                I'm Back!!

Well I thought I would post some pictures of mine and add an interesting twist to the accepted knowledge considering known makers. I know that it is generally accept that C.E. Juncker, Wilhelm Deumer and Steinhauer and Lueck manufactured and sold these in their LDO stores but were they the only ones to do so? Technically all fully licensed LDO firms could produce these and sell them at their stores. The reason I bring this up is that I have one with a MM. Unfortunately it was not stamped well but after looking at it I believe it to be an L/58, which would be a Souval. HMMM, interesting!

                      Mm

Here's some pictures of the MM. I had to take two pictures to get the entire MM in focus. So the first picture you can see the L/ and in the second 58 or what I believe is a 58 and the last one is an overall shot.

I just looked at the one in Niemann's price guide (page 261) and that one sure looks like it has a "dot" to me. Just to get things stirred up some more.
Thanks for the additional pics Kenneth.

                                Hi

Something else to add to the discussion is that I've noticed on mine and a few of the others posted is that the inside of circle seems to be tooled out. Maybe with some kind of saw? I think this was done during the manufacturing process.
