Klaus! This is Viktor's area of expertise In any case, until you open it you cannot tell whether it is a Teil 1 or 2, because the former is waterproofed inside as it is meant to be carried around by the soldier, whilst the latter isn't as it is meant to be left on the APC and picked up later. I didn't know until Nico told me last year

Genosse iannima, Do you wish to call down the Wraith of the ever watchful Genosse Dag? ...The Rubberised lining is just a later Pattern improvement of the Assault Pack closure and flap fastening Complex, he used two of them as Teil 1 und 2 in the late 1980's..... ...

I used to use one of each, now my scale of Issue has been Ordered by Moscow Centre to be redoubled in line with his released Information....
      Hurra!!, Hurra!!, Hurra!1 Genosse Dag!....

Genosse Klaus1989, PM me if you like, if you think this Command can assist your Personal Equipment Complex questions.. always happy support a Genosse in their Political Perception and Cultural Development with what little I'm Cleared to know...

Motor Rifles Gruppenfuehrer Personal Equipment complex.

R126 Radio, Binoculars, ABC Suit in Carrier, Yoke, Map Case, Two Signal Flags, Belt, Magazine Pouch, Bayonet, Respirator in Haversack, E Tool in Carrier, Water bottle.

Soldat, only Two men would carry only just this.

Belt, Yoke, Magazine Pouch, Bayonet, Respirator in Haversack, E Tool in Carrier, Water bottle, ABC Suit in Carrier.

The Nr 1 Panzerbueche Gunner would have Optical Sight Bag and a Pistole M Holster rather than the Bayonet and MPi Pouch as well as the Nr1 Ammunition Bag for his Weapon System .

Note, the position of the Pistole M there is no cross draw in the NVA..

This image is a "Soldiers fix" as the ABC Suit on the Yoke is a bit of a pain, an Ex NVA Artillery Soldat D-30 Weapon Complex showed me this one.

The Nr2 Gunner is equipped as the Soldat but with the addition Scale of the Nr2 Ammunition Bag.

The Two IMG K Gunners would also lack the MPi Magazine Pouch and Bayonet but have a 40 Round IMG K Magazine Pouch instead.

The Grundwissen shows the 75 Round Drum is carried here on the back of the belt when issued.

Here's the NVA Regulation in regard to wearing and Scales of Issued from a "Grundwissen" namely ..
      Handbuch Militaerisches Grundwissen.
Which is basically the best source of hands on NVA Data a Soldier needs to know...

This is from an early one as the use of RPG 2 and the IMG D prove...

I do apologise, Genosse Viktor, I did say that it was your area of expertise... and Nico's explanation made sense...
Given that we are here, may I tax your extensive knowledge on such matters a bit further? I own a magazine pouch that is curved and has a D ring at the back. Indeed I remember showing it to you years ago, when I first got it. Now obviously this is for AKM magazines and is relatively early in the Strichtarn pattern. I also own a straight sided pouch with no external pocket for the cleaning kit which I believe to be for the later AK74. Were these used interchangeably for AKM and AK74? The magazines do fit. Have you got any idea of when these straight sided pouches would have been introduced?
I am sure I am opening a can of worms here...

          Genosse iannima,
This is an earlier Personal Equipment, I use.. I'm not using a Heart shaped Yoke as it was not released from Stores.....(The Lack of Political Perception was Noted..)

It has the Curved Magazine Carrying Complex.... I use it with my MPi K, KmS, KM The Straight Complex is normal for a MPi KM, or KMS-72 .....

Your continued Lack of Political Perception has been Noted..

Well, I do not think Genosse Viktor has left a single Motorised rifles setup out!

One odd thing I noticed is that my chemical suit has shorter bag than the ones in Viktor's setups. But then mine is marked MdI. I have NVA-marked suit but missing bag. It too is longer when rolled! Just size difference or did MdI really used different size bag?

Also, why is my shovel carrier different - resembles early VOPO Klappspaten black leather carriers but in grey plastic. Earlier NVA model or MdI-issue? With all the MdI items, I guess my setup is more appropriate for Volkspolizei-Bereitsschaft!

            regards
            Klaus

I went to a fairly local military vehicles event, and expected to be the only one holding the flag but luckily this turned out not to be the case when this lovingly restored Trabikübel turned up...

the property of the young gentleman on the right (by the name of James) who has obviously dedicated many hours to it and whose committment to the cause is worthy of many a commendation... Indeed I would say a medal! Held der DDR?
Apparently he is acquainted with Viktor but not yet with this website... I endeavoured to correct this gap

                  Welcome Genosse James!
I am sure you will find many things to entertain and educate you on this forum! Many have remarked that it is the frendliest and most informative on the DDR ...
You only need to take mentions of duty cars and people's courts with a VERY unhealthy pinch of salt...

I am sure this does not count as a complicated question... but I think many would love to see the restoration photographs that you showed me on Saturday. Why don't you start a separate thread on your Trabikübel? and you show us your handiwork with a welder?

                          Hello James,

Welcome to the forum. I'm very glad Matteo happened across you and your wonderfully restored military version Trabi.

It is great to have you as a member and I'm sure you will make many new friends. In a very short time you will find there are quite a few fellow "Mates" from England that participate in the sharing and exchanging of information on this forum.

When opportunity presents you with time, please share additional photos of your Trabi. The forum would very much like to see more from it and your hard work associated with restoration of this really fine piece of DDR history.

Now when Victor wants to send out the Duty Car for some infraction by a member, we know exactly what car he is talking about.

                          Welcome.

Hi James, welcome to the forum!

James of course has met and knows Viktor of old - he's been over chat with us many times at shows and also met up with us for the Russian Winter Festival in London where we enjoyed some Russian culture (and some really bad pop music sung by squeeky little girls!)

Nice to see your Trabi though, you have told me so much about it but this is the first time I have seen it.

This link takes you to the 7th Mot. Scheutzen Reg. display at the Marching Through Time living history event held in Maryland, USA last month. We are missing the Blumentarn soldat and the guy with the ameoba suit to complete it.

I really like that Trabant and can't wait to see some more pics!

I would insert all the lovely pictures of a Trabbi crying out in need of assistance but i am not sure how to upload pictures onto this forum
I am intrested mainly in the Grenztuppen but i am slowly expanding to other parts of the NVA.
The Russian winter festival was very amusing indeed, hope to see all you people in the near future!
