    Cased KVKI with Swords

    Dear All,

Here is a KVKII that has recently acquired from lakeside traders. The case is discussed on this thread in the packets forum http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...37#post2452637. It is an unmarked zinc example despite coming in a Deschler & Sohn case, does it bear the chracteristics of a Deschler KVK ? The wreath surrounding the swastika is not particularly well defined. I believe I have seen the pin and catch hardware on other KVK's in the past but cannot remember from what maker. There is however one issue that concerns me, on the 6'o clock arm there seems to be some swarf / unfinished edge on the tip of left side 6'o clock arm of the cross. Is this identifiable ? I have not seen this poor finishing on a KVK or any other TR award before.

    All comments welcome,

Many thanks to all as always.

    Gareth

Hi Gareth, I have a Deschler and Sohn marked KVK1 with swords and the hardware looks nothing like yours, eg. your catch and hinge are made as an integral part of the badge and not attached and the pin is a different shape. The deformity on the bottom arm is just impact damage IMO, you see many other KVK's with deformities like this.

Here's a picture of the obverse of mine for comparison, I haven't got one of the reverse. Just do a search on the forum and you'll find loads of examples.

No, this is not a Deschler cross but looks to me like a good mm4 S&L. Don't see any problems here.

P.S. Seeing as your badge doesn't match your case you could send it to me so I can put mine in it?!

Yeah you wish Paul. I got a couple of Deschler crosses crying for a new home so forget about it, ok?
