Please post your 4 yr service medals

I think we are all interested in the 4 year service medal. There seems to be a lot we all would like to learn about this medal. Especially ones with packets to identify the makers, as so far i don't have many of these, but none i have are ring marked. Hopefully someone here will have some knowledge more in depth on this medal to share, as all i can share is a couple originals i know are correct , even though their makers are elusive.



This one still has silvering left of the wash, even though it appears not to,as photos dont always show finish as well, and yes it is magnetic . Its obvious the ribbon ring is missing on this one. All the 4 year medals i can recall having seen are not soldered on the ring like an EKll , making them easier to lose the ring from.

Here is the reverse, and the wreath circle is not smoothe



Nor is the outside radius of the wreath either. Im not saying a smoothe wreathed medal can't be original, I believe it may just be peculair to this particular maker, whomever that maker may be.

One thing that i have noticed on this type is where the top of the swas has a line that continues up in the middle between the eagles legs to the eagles most lower center feather point. And the thickness of this ones edge, runs from .074 to .078 in. thickness. and a dia. of the medal 1.180 - .1.182.(measurements taken from first medal) This type has a downpointing S top , as opposed to a horizontal turned up on the end top S.

This is a great idea for a thread ! It is a lovely underated medal and it will be great to see members collections and hear views. I am sure there is alot to learn about these crosses as they were clearly well faked too!

I think it would be good to include the 12 year also
