Well today a little parcel arrived which contained a PAB that again learned me something I did not yet know or had ever seen before.
Untill now I have only ever owned 3 hollow Buntmetall BH Mayer PAB's all made out of yellow messing or tombak. Compared to there bronze brothers early silver BH Mayer PAB's are much much more scares and that could explain why I never noticed this badge.
When I opened the parcel much to my surprise it didn't contain a buntmetall but a nickel silver BH Mayer. To be absolutely sure that I wasn't fooled by it's very good condition and in the name of research I even scratched the surface to make sure no colored metal was to be found underneath.
Just like the second series of nickel silver porsches this badge received a very thin silver mat coating that is completely intact apart from the eagle and some highpoints.
So you guys better take a look at your early hollow silver BH Mayer PAB's. There must be more of these badges out there
