Device on EK2 Ubergrosse

Has anyone seen such a device on an EK2?
It's mounted on my RK sized EK2.

I never saw another before and have no clue what to think of it.
Any idea's?

Was that Device used in the same period?
So probably someone put this on the ek2 ribbon in time.

Used on period CROIX DE GUERRE

I have seen this device on several WWII French CROIX DE GUERRE. Based upon that I feel it is appropriate to the period but not the medal.

I wished it was a postwar device. That would make it much easier for me.

Now I must think if I will get the device of the ribbon.
I'm not sure if I will.

This came in a group with other stuff I already sold wich was all original.
So maybe the recipient put it during wartime on the ribbon and maybe it became this way some kind of original?

It's the same with repairs on items.
I have no problem if it was done done during wartime.
But if something happend to the item postwar, I don't want it in my collection.

Maybe I should make a poll what to do with that device

In that case, I'd leave the device on it -- at least for now.

If it is a period item, even if not German, I'd leave it on. It makes for a more interesting piece in your collection. For all we know some German solider after the invasion of France saw these pins / medal holders and decided to have one for his EK. Nice ubergrosse EK as well.

These metal devices are manufactured, sold and used to this day in France and Belgium so there's no telling how old or recent it is.
