H Paul, sadly your friends cap is a fantasy item. The Waffen SS never wore a schiffen pattern tropical cap. Also avoid any "SS-BW" marked cap.

I've wondered about that, because Willi Schumacher once posted photo's of a tropical overseas cap that he got from Bill Shea(I think?) that has an original set of the brown camo eagle and skull...John

the skull is IMO a nice original one
the eagle is also a originall one ,but I find the colour
a little bit odd ,to light i mean

The insignia are fine IMO, but I wouldn't trust them on that cap or the cap itself. It certainly is not a BW issue cap, possibly KM? Best, John
