it seems caps with shorter visor even existed in black too;
there is a wellknown period pic of a nco belonging Prinz Eugen Pz-Rgt,
sitting with hbt pz wrap and a rabbit in his arms,
and clearly wearing an ex of this unusual feature.
my hypothesis would be that they are "early" non official models,
copying bermütze style, but not mle 1942 sidecaps modified,
before the definitive standart visor size was adopted in june 1943.
