DJ Fanfare Trumpet and Banner - Gebiet 25

    Hi Everybody,

I'm very excited about this, so I thought I'd share it with you all:

DJ Trumpet Banner, marked Gebiet 25, and the finishing touch, a genuine Fanfare Trumpet (RZM and maker marked).

I'm tempted to give it a blow but have resisted so far.

    Hope you like it.

    All the best,
    Toby.

          Fanfare

          Toby,
Interesting! Where is the RZM marking on the horn? I've had several Fanfare trumpets and a number of SA/NSKK/HJ bugles but they are seldom marked with an RZM marking.
          Thanks,
          Erich

            Hi Erich,

The RZM mark is on the horn end (I presume this is the right terminology but tell me if I'm wrong).

It's the correct code for musical instruments, I'm happy to report.

            All the best,
            Toby.

              Hello Toby,
You're right--it's in the correct place, as well! I have an RZM marked NSKK bugle which is marked in the same place. Very neat--I've never seen an RZM marked Fanfare trumpet. That is an impressive set!
Is that extra piece of brass in the bell of the trumpet a repair, or?
              Erich

                Hi Erich,

I'm glad you like it. I think it is a repair, presumably for reinforcement.

Any idea who the maker is?

                All the best,
                Toby.

                    Hello again,
M10/4 is the code for Johs. Link KG, in Weissenfels. Neat eagle as well--I'm not so familiar with DJ cloth but it looks nicely done and correct!

Thanks for the maker info Erich.

The banner is the very one shown in Phil Baker's book, 'Youth Led By Youth', Volume 1.

It's hard to see in my photo but the sword has bullion highlights running along the spine of the blade.

As I understand it, Trumpet Banners with anything other than a Rune both sides are pretty tough to find. According to regulations, the rune was supposed to be on both sides, although this wasn't always the case.

                      All the best,
                      Toby.

I can believe it--I've seen many with rune on both sides, but don't recall seeing one like this in recent years. Congratulations!
By the way, you can't hurt it by playing it, so give it a blast!

Interesting item! I have a few bugles and trumpet banners in my
own collection, but decided long ago not to actively seek them
out preferring the more regulation made unit flags (fahnen und
standarten) on which soldiers took their oath. Oddly enough I
not too many years ago picked up some modern nicely made Soviet
military trumpets with their unique machine chain stitched banners,
and found that the trumpets exactly match the WW2 German
design except that they have Soviet factory makers markings
rather than the RZM, which needless to say was of course
what was to be expected. OldFlagsWanted.com
