        M-45 tunic??

What is a Model 1945 tunic? A civilian coat?? Seriously, the last model I know of is the M-44, similar to an "Ike" jacket. Please enlighten me.

                      My field tunic

                      Hello to all,
as you can see it 's a very late field tunic model '43 but it has some caracteristics very far from the '43 pattern tunic. It's manufactured in italian cloth and has the black internal lining very simplifycated, a martingale under the collar, the cuffs buttons holes made directly in the edge of the cuffs (like the '44 pattern tunic), two series of 3 holes for the belt hook retainers only in the rear (pratically in the both sides of the tunic), one closing hook & eye at the collar which are very large and crudely sewn and the mismatch of the lining material at the cuffs. I have in my collections for over eight years and think that it was manufactured in very hasty time most probabily to dress the Volksturm. Because I've ever seen some other field tunic of this kind, is there someone which have the appropriate documentation about it? What do you think ?
                      Greetings,
                      Alex

                        Hi Alex,

Well, it’s not my cup of tea …

For starters: The odd hook in the collar, never seen one like this on a German tunic.
The buttons seem to be smooth, no pebbles (or is this just the lighting ?)
The extra closing tab on the collar, I don’t think the placing would make it comfortable to wear.
The seams on both sides near the closing button/holes, never seen.
The sleevesslits, never seen like this, the button on the outside. I once owned an extreme late M44 battle dress WITHOUT the slits, so why would a 45 dated tunic still have them ?
The lining, black and oddly placed.
The markings, not the type I like.

And apart from that, an order was given that all tunics were to be of the battledress model. Can’t exactly remember what date it was, I believe it was in Uniforms and traditions of the German army

Please understand, this is just my opinion. If it was offered to me, I would pass.

                        MfG,
                        Bart

                          Hello Bart,
i know that this tunic has a very strange manifacture (i have 13 field tunic in my collection so i realize that it's strangest than other ones...) but the place where it comes from, let me so calm. In the very last time of the war, Germans unified the dressing for Kriegsmarine, Heer, Luftwaffe and Volksturm and i think that this tunic is the final result.
                          This is my opinion.

A couple of things bother me about this tunic. Normally I'm pretty open to oddities, given that the late war, different manufactures in different countries, and other concerns which might have fostered innovation. But in this case, I make two observations:

                            1) In the 1970s and early 80s when I was heavy into German uniforms, and owned many, I never heard of this variation. Why does it surface only recently?

                            2) If the purpose of the M-44 was to conserve cloth, it makes no sense whatsoever that in the final months of the war, when cloth would have been even scarcer, a new model of uniform using more cloth would have been adopted. Also, it seems this model would have been more time consuming in manufacture than the M-44.
