    Blue Division medal opinions needed

Hope someone can help as i have no experience of this medal.
Although the helmet is quite raised the medal does lack some definition, but i have been told that they all do. If you look at it from even slightly side on the definition is good?
Are they all like this, or is this just a salty example?
Any opinions greatly appreciated, thanks, Ant.

Thanks for the help, i'm pretty sure it's awarded to Spanish troops on the Eastern Front by the Third Reich, rather than the one given by the Spanish government to it's troops who fought on the Eastern Front.
Just interested to know if this is a salty example or whether they are all like this one? I am pretty sure it's real, but if anyone know differently please let me know.
        Thanks, Ant.

          Spanish Volunteers in Russia Medal

          Ant,

It looks similar to one which I used to own which had also lost all of its finish.

The one I have now is a better striking and has most of the gold finish remaining.

          Is the ring mm'd?

            Jaime is right.
The back of the medal says:

"Division española de voluntarios en Rusia"
Spanish for "Spanish division of volunteers in Russia"

Thanks Stan, so it's not the best struck medal in the world, this is what i've heard. Here's 2 pictures of the ring, can't make out if it's a maker mark, should be getting an eye loupe soon.

                Here's a close up.
By the way Stan, are you going to the next Bolton militaria fair? Gotta dash off in a minute, being dragged to Ikea, but at least the meatballs & chips are good!

                  its a good one Ant
there were two types one being of german manufacture as this one is and the maker mark is 1 for Deschler, the other type is of spanish manufacture and has slightly different details on the shield shape and a large barrel shaped ring loop.
You will find that for some reason the finish on these medals does get absorbed .
                  cheers gaz

                    Thanks Gaz, you're a star!
Amazing that your eyes can make out "1", maybe my optician should be shot, he says i have perfect vision. Maybe he's blind!
Glad to have a German made one, got it off a dealer i haven't seen before at a fair who had some nice stuff, not lots, but nice & this one was the one i wasn't sure on, but this has definitely made my mind up that i must see him again.
                    Thanks again, Ant.

Any chance you could put up a scan of the Spanish made one from after the war, would be good to compare.
                          Thanks, Ant.
