    .

    Hi Markus and Bob,

Thank you very much for the feedback which is much appreciated. I over-reacted; and for that I apologise.

Your knowledge and expertise is very interesting and should be encouraged. I have certainly learnt a lot.

    Here is the photo again.

Thanks André! I am glad you accepted my appologies and are back posting the photo of your super group. I mean the complete group is really a knock-out. Here we see only a small extract...as you well know! I think most here have no clue about the complete magnitude of the group incl. all its super documents and photos, and, and and!

          cool pic

Wow, great shot! Looks like he's not wearing his helmet, just the cover...I've seen pictures like this when SS troops are working in hot climates...
          Very nice picture!

            Excellent badges!
Bob – can we see some photos of the tunic, please? Does it come with a story?

No photo evidence of this badge being worn? If my memory serves me correctly there was a photo sold on ebay 5-6 years ago showing the badge in wear. I hope I have downloaded that pic. Will do some digging!

              No other photos?

Here is the M-44 tunic. No vet story. This was on a large rack of German WWII uniforms that was being pushed through the hall at a Max Show in Monroeville, Pa. I saw the sleeve and stopped the fellow pushing the rack. he explained that the tunics are already sold and he is delivering them to the new owner. I followed the fellow to the dealer's tables. When he inspected and took receipt of the tunics, I negotiated a price for this tunic. I can tell you that many of the German dealers, several US dealers, and many collectors followed me around, trying to get me to sell the tunic.

I have the matching late war brown keilhose and the 1945 dated brown M-43 cap to match the tunic.

It is one of my favorites.

Bob, one of the most amazing tunics I have ever seen? What about a trade with the grenadier officer crusher/schirmutze that I have? Well I had to ask Jacques

Felix, needless to say that the existence of such a period photo would mean a sensation!!!<O</O

It is the usual problem. Later in the war less and lesser photos were taken and those negative from photos which still had been taken never reached home to be developed.<O</O
                          <O</O
I remember the extremely rare photo of the Volksgrenadiere with “Leibertarn”-pattern uniforms which was published a couple of years back and I was stunned. I have not seen any other example since.

Even if such a photo with the sniper-badge in wear came out now we would definitely need to check its authenticity.<O</O
                          <O</O
But yes, it would be a dream come true.<O</O

The interesting part is that the Soldbuch lists amongst other decorations the<O</O

                              It was awarded to him on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:date Year="1944" Day="24" Month="12">Dec. 24th, 1944</st1:date>. <O</O

The entry was signed by his Kompanie-Chef “Bergerfurth”, who later received the German Cross in Gold.<O</O

In Feb. 1945 he was still in action and received the Woundbadge in Gold.

Further the Soldbuch includes entries the receipt of a Cammo smock, Cammo net with hooks, Semi-Auto rigle (prob. G43), Rifle scope with pouch, binoculars and close combat dagger!

The Soldbuch was carried by him throughout the war from 1939 to 1945 and judging from the awards he received (EK2,EK1, Woundbadges black, silver, gold (+ Fuehrergeschenk), Inf. Assault badge silver, Sniper badge gold) he was quite some “Front-Pig” no-one could get down!

Paul Kühn - Sniper 17.SS-Götz von Berlichingen!

Extract from the divisional newspaper "The Iron Fist" mentioning that Uscha K******252;hn was able to increase his scored kills to 20 since the last issue of the "Eiserne Faust"!

...signed after having had breakfast with him.
